The city of St. Gallen is the capital of the canton of the same name. It is considered the cultural and economic centre of Eastern Switzerland and was founded around the 1000s in the vicinity of the St. Gallen Monastery. Although the city is not at the top of the list from an international tourist point of view, it does have a lot to offer in this area. For example, it is worth visiting the collegiate church, which is a landmark of St. Gallen and is considered a world cultural heritage site. The textile industry is (or was) also very important. Well known are for example the embroideries from the region.
As befits a city, massage offers are not lacking. At first glance, the selection is rather manageable. But considering the fact that the canton's territory is very extensive, the providers are also spread over places like Rapperswil, Wattwil, Buchs, Uznach or Flawil.
With a population of half a million, however, the canton of St. Gallen is one of the smaller cantons. Due to its proximity to Germany and Austria, a large number of people from these countries live or work in St. Gallen.
The St. Gallen bratwurst is known throughout Switzerland, and is particularly popular at the popular Olma autumn fair, where it is a real treat for the palate. A spectacle that brings several hundred thousand visitors to the city every year and also ensures full massage parlours.
